Recently Whole Foods was forced to shutter on of the commercial kitchens that he owns.

An investigation has been opened into a Whole Foods market in Detroit. This happened after 2 people were diagnosed with hepatitis A after consuming food from that store.

Whole Food said in a statement that there is no problem with the food there, just that an employee had hepatitis A and once he prepared the food the virus spread. They also mentioned that they want health officials to come to their store and review the safety procedures and the food logs.

Detroit Health Department informed Whole Food that there is another case of Hepatitis A. The person who got hepatitis shops regularly at Whole Foods and it is believed that he might have gotten the disease from there.

Whole Food mentioned that the employee who was diagnosed with the diseases was a nighttime runner which means that he moved food to the display section. It is believed that he moved the prepared foods and he might have spread the diseases. He informed the store about his diseases voluntarily.

“This employee did the right thing and allowed us to contact the health department in quick fashion. We are cooperating fully with the Detroit Health Department to ensure the safety of our customers and team members,” Whole Foods said in a statement.

Whole Foods sells a lot of types of prepared food and this has become popular around people because they don’t have the time to cook for themselves. This store offers a variety of prepared food, from sandwiches to salads and people can buy whatever quantity they want.

The problem with the prepared food is that the risk of safety issues grows along with the increase in complexity and volume. This means that if a store produces a lot of prepared food the risk of diseases and bacteria could grow, too.

More and more stores are now selling this type of products and the safety procedures need to be respected in order for customers to receive the best products and to be healthy.

Recently, Whole Foods was forced to shutter on of the commercial kitchens that the company owns. This happened in Boston, where the FDA warned the company about the safety measures that should be taken in this type of stores and kitchens. Also, last year in Massachusetts, Whole Foods recalled classic deli pasta salad and curry chicken salad after these products were linked to a dangerous form of listeria.
