Intel Nervana will be the newest player in the AI field thanks to new products and technology.
Intel Nervana will be the newest player in the Artificial Intelligence field as the company has announced that its new strategy will be targeting the aforementioned domain.
The Intel domain of activity will now include new products and services for a wide variety of services including everything from data center use cases to network edge.
The new products and technology should help advance the Artificial Intelligence (AI) area as Intel will make the technology available to the broadest set of tech options.
As such, anything from fraud detection, to autonomous cars to sports or to smart factories and drones.
Intel will also be introducing the new Intel Nervana platform which should ensure both the ease of use and the speed of the future AI workloads.
This was made possible by the acquisition of the two-year-old company named Nervana Systems, acquisition which was revealed some three months ago.
The first Intel Nervana platform product will be called “Lake Crest”. The so-called chip will start being tested sometime in the early half of next year.
According to Intel statements, it will also be made available to the company’s key customers by the later part of next year.
The Lake Crest chip will be optimized so as to help neural networks deliver the high performance needed for the AI deep learning skills.
Intel Nervana will also contribute to the already existing processors namely Xeon, with the help of a “Knight Crest” a new company product.
Diane Bryant, the Intel data center croup’s general manager and executive vice president, went on and announced future company plans and expectations.
According to Bryant, the new Intel Nervana platform should ensure a dramatic reduction in the time needed so as to train complex neural networks. It should also lead to breakthroughs in the performance and utility of such networks and AI technology.
The same Bryant revealed that Intel hopes to generate a 100-fold increase in the AI and neural performances well before the next decade.
This should help move along and most importantly speed up the general innovations in the emerging but already increasing deep learning field.
Intel is targeting a wide range of current and future AI technologies and is already developing their assets. One such asset will be the Intel Saffron Technology business insight platform.
The Saffron Technology platform will leverage memory-based reasoning technologies and will help with the transparent analysis of the heterogenous data.
The said technology will also be available for small devices which should make it accessible to Internet of Things appliances. This should help advance the state of the art collaborative AI association.
The Intel Nervana will not be limited to just a platform. The company announced its future opening of an Intel Nervana AI Academy. This will allow the interested software developers access to both the training and the necessary tools.
Another Nervana product will be the Intel Nervana Graph Compiler, a tool which should help accelerate the Intel hardware’s deep learning frameworks.
