AAA predicts that there will be even more cars on the road during this Thanksgiving period.

AAA predicts that there will be even more cars on the road during this Thanksgiving period as compared to last year, probably the highest number since 2007.

According to the travel company’s predictions, this year will see about 48.7 million people on the road for the Thanksgiving period.

The travel organization took into account any person traveling for 50 miles or more. It also estimated that almost 90 percent of the travelers will be driving to their destination.

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported that 99 percent of all the travels during the period will be within the United States.

They also established that the average age of the Thanksgiving travelers will be of about 34 or younger. As many of the travelers will probably be students, the average age for the holiday period is lower than that recorded throughout the rest of the year.

According to the travel agency, the total number of travelers will most likely surpass the numbers registered last year. With an estimated 1 million more than in 2015, this year will probably see the most trips since the 2007 total number.

The AAA has gone and released statistics in regards to both the travelers and their trip preferences. As such, they determined that 9 out of 10 will most probably be driving their personal cars.

With even more cars on the roads than usual, most travelers will most likely be heading home to spend the holidays with their loved ones.

Other traveling methods will include flying or taking a bus for the home trips, whilst others have booked a cruise for the holiday period.

The predicted traveling period for Thanksgiving will begin on Wednesday and will carry out throughout the week, until Sunday.

As most will be heading home, the AAA.com bookings also went to show the preferred destinations for the time period, which seems to be Las Vegas.

For those that will soon be hitting the road, the Bureau of Transportation has released a series of statistics. These could be useful when deciding the best hours and days of departure.

Estimates show that the number of long-distance travels will increase by 54 percent as compared to a regular week of the year.

Reports showed that the number of drivers riding in between 50 and 99 miles will make up for about 44 percent of all the personal car rides.

They also show that most such drivers will be traveling on Thursday rather than on Wednesday. Most will also be returning on Saturday rather than on Sunday.

The Transportation Bureau established that the drivers which will be traveling 100 miles or more will probably account for 56 percent of all the personal car rides. Their travels will also most likely be spread equally throughout the six-days period.

As the average Thanksgiving drive will be about 214 miles long, it will be smaller than the Christmas average of 275 miles or the annual average 261 miles.

Still, however long their ride will be, drivers are advised to drive safe and maintain their calm throughout their journey.
