Nokia 3310

The re-release of Nokia 3310 had everybody excited and curious

Nokia 3310 is probably the most popular mobile phone of all time. Naturally, the announcement that Nokia will be relaunching 3310 at the Mobile World Congress made everybody curious about how the modern version of the phone might be looking. Fortunately, there is already some leaked information about the phone’s aspect and specifications.

Nokia 3310 was launched in 2000, at a time when cellular phones were not used for many things besides calls and texts. The phone met an immense popularity and many people were still nostalgic about the times when they played Snake II. Thus, the news of 3310’s re-release made everybody excited and anxious.

The Chinese website Vtech revealed that the upgraded 3310 will look similar to the original phone. However, Nokia reshaped the design a bit and it is now a bit slimmer and lighter. So, no more jokes about the phone’s destructive weight, for the disappointment of fans.

Also, the buttons will resemble the original design, but with a small refined upgrade. Besides the iconic blue, the phone will come in other colors, too, like the original version.

However, the fans must be more curious about the technical specifications of the phone, rather than its aspect. The new 3310 will cross the border into the world of modern mobile phones. The data and browsing capabilities of the phone are limited, so it cannot qualify completely as a smartphone. Yet the screen will be bigger and in color.

Regarding the price, the rumors suggest something around $63, which is quite reasonable if you are nostalgic about your childhood years and want to relive them.

The Nokia 3310 relaunch spiced a lot of interest in the tech world and, of course, a lot of speculation on how the phone might look like. Thus, the enthusiasts made concept videos where they imagined how the new phone would look and what features it would have.

For example, one video imagined the new 3310 quite similar design-wise with the original one, but it added more specs. It showed a camera, radio system, 8 GB of internal memory, and an USB port.

An older concept video created by CurvedLabs showed a modern Nokia 3310 that featured a larger screen and the buttons placed closer to the bottom. This concept brought it closer to the look of a smartphone.

The relaunch of Nokia 3310 is a nice way to bring the popular phone back to those who are nostalgic and an interesting way to see how old fashioned phones are reimagined.
